We are also streamlining our product line (reflecting on customer demand) and increasing prices to reflect the changed production cost.

It is finally happened! After three years of hard work, from design to development and manufacturing in the Czech Republic, through all the highs, lows, blood, and sweat, we’ve finally hit an incredible milestone: the first 5 Batches of Somnium VR1s headsets have been delivered to our customers in 2024. It’s a bit surreal, to be honest, but we couldn’t be prouder. Not just of ourselves, but of everyone who stayed with us, waiting (sometimes impatiently) for the best PCVR headset out there. Let’s take a moment to celebrate this achievement together.
Somnium VR1: Focusing on Customer Needs 🤝
Over the past several months, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring Somnium VR1 to life. The response has been phenomenal. This journey has given us invaluable insights into what our community values most — and it’s clear that certain variants of the VR1 have captured the spotlight.
Our Visionary Edition (Eye Tracking), Ultimate Edition (Mixed Reality + Eye Tracking + Hand Tracking), and Titan Edition (Eye Tracking + Hand Tracking) are by far the most popular and desired variants. These models have set themselves apart as the preferred choice for vast majority of you, and we’re thrilled to continue offering them.
To better align with this demand and optimize our production process, we’ve made the decision to discontinue other variants of the VR1 lineup, including the Striker Edition, Classic Edition, Specter Edition, and Translucent Edition.
For those who have already purchased these discontinued editions — don’t worry, your orders are safe, and you will receive them as planned. In fact, owning one of these variants will make your headset even more exclusive and unique.
This decision allows us to focus our efforts on delivering the Visionary, Ultimate, and Titan Editions faster and more efficiently, while continuing to meet the highest standards of quality you expect from us.
Incoming Pricing Update 🏷️
While we strive to make Somnium VR1 as affordable as possible, we also refuse to compromise on quality. The production process for these headsets has turned out to be far more complex than initially anticipated. As a result, we will be increasing prices for the Visionary, Ultimate, and Titan Editions.
This price adjustment will allow us to maintain our uncompromising commitment to delivering the best PCVR headset on the planet for every single customer which is Made in EU (Czech Republic).

- Current prices remain valid until January 16th, 2025.
- New pricing will be announced and become effective on January 16th, 2025.

Start of US 🇺🇸 shipments & FCC granted
We are thrilled to share that as of January 2025 we are starting to also ship to United States! We are accelerating production and increasing batch sizes to meet the demand. Thanks to these efforts, many of our customers are already enjoying their VR1 headsets in countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Finland and many more!
We also want to acknowledge that there have been delays, and we feel and fully understand your impatience. Please know that we share your excitement and are doing everything in our power to deliver your headset as soon as possible. However, we are committed to ensuring that our quality standards and processes remain uncompromized. Delivering a product that meets your and ours expectations is our highest priority.
Currently if you order headset today your shipping dates are February — March 2025 as we continue to produce and deliver to customers who ordered earlier. Moreover, new orders keep coming steadily and we are trying to accelerate production as fast as we can to meet the demand.

One of the most exciting developments around Somnium VR1 is how our open-source design is inspiring creativity and customization in the community. Since we released all the 3D files for the VR1, people have been 3D printing incredible add-ons for the headset’s anchor points, from custom mounts to innovative accessories that expand functionality.
Additionally, the VR1’s versatility allows for a wide range of head strap options — many are using straps from BoboVR, HTC Vive Deluxe Audio Straps, Quest or even crafting their own custom solutions.
Additionally the VR1’s robust software settings system enables users to tweak every single aspect of the headset for the most personalized and optimized experience possible. Our VR1 Tool software creates an unparalleled experience, empowering users to truly make their VR1 their own.
Another groundbreaking feature of the Somnium VR1 is its ability to support the world’s first exchangeable warping profiles directly within the headset. This innovation empowers users to upload, test, and share warping profiles, tailoring the visual experience to their unique preferences. This feature puts unprecedented control in the hands of our community. Combined with our open-source ethos and the flexibility to tweak every detail through the VR1 Tool software, this makes the Somnium VR1 a true pioneer in delivering a fully personalized VR experience.
Looking Ahead into 2025 🔭
As we step into 2025, we’re thrilled to share several exciting initiatives that reflect our dedication to empowering our community and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in VR:
1) Selling Spare Parts & Modules
Staying true to our open-source design ethics, we are planning to start selling spare parts for the Somnium VR1 in 2025, to ensure the headset is long-lasting and accessible to all levels of enthusiasts — from everyday users to hardcore tinkerers.
You’ll be able to purchase individual components such as optical modules, main boards, electronics, cables, screens, and more. This initiative reinforces our commitment to sustainability by allowing advanced users to repair or modify their VR1 headsets as needed. We believe in empowering our community to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible, ensuring that VR1 continues to evolve with you. More details about this initiative, terms and other aspects will be released later in 2025 in a separate blogpost.
2) Engaging More with the YouTube Community
We believe that sharing the Somnium VR1 experience with the world is best achieved through authentic reviews and insights. That’s why in 2025, we’re planning to collaborate with even more YouTubers by providing them with VR1 headsets for testing.

At each meetup, we’ll have VR1 testing stations, gaming sessions featuring popular racing and flight sims, and plenty of time to chat about all things PCVR. Whether you’re looking to explore the headset for the first time or share your experiences as a VR1 owner, these gatherings will be engaging, informative, and most importantly, fun!
