A Month of Exciting Developments for Somnium Space
It’s been a busy and exciting start to the year for us here at Somnium Space! We recently took part in CES in Las Vegas, the most influential technological fair, and revealed our latest functional opensource DevKit and final design of VR1 headset that we create in partnership with VRgineers and Prusa3D. It was great to see visitors, including our favorite YouTubers and tech influencers, getting hands-on with our headset and testing its high resolution VR picture clarity and state-of-the-art mixed reality camera modules.
But that’s not all! We’re proud to say that we’re integrating TeslaSuit’s Glove with its haptic feedback technology for each finger that can emulate sensations and create perception of solid object texture and various surface types. Imagine playing basketball or touching clouds in Somnium Space with a full tactile presence! The ability to touch and feel virtual objects opens up endless possibilities. Our founder, Artur Sychov, mentioned that the integration will go live with the next big update, referred to as Somnium 3.0. We’re thrilled to bring even more immersive experiences to the metaverse and can’t wait to see what our users will create with this new addition.
We’re also thrilled to see what our partners at OMG (Oasis Meta Games) are up to. They’ve implemented a ChatGPT-powered AI assistant in virtual reality inside their Somnium NFT World that you can chat with! As we give creators full ownership and monetization capabilities, this opens up new possibilities for what can be created within our virtual world, and it’s exciting to see what our community can build.
We have announced smell integration into Somnium with Hapticsol solution. Now you will be able to smell environments such as ocean wind, forest, coffee, popcorn, burnt rubber and gasoline at the race track etc. This will also be included in a big Somnium 3.0 upcoming update
